23rd June, Friday, 5 pm – 7 pm, Above Tidal Waves book shop, Bandra.
My readings after Hongkong’s Outloud in Fringe club was
yesterday at an evening of poetry to commemorate LGBT Pride month.
A program by the U.S. Consulate Mumbai in collaboration with Women Empowered – India. [Founder & Curator: Smeetha Bhoumik] The official photos are yet to come, but here are some blurry ones from handheld devices.
The bigger point being the open discussions on the challenges and triumphs-of-spirit experienced by the LGBT community.
The homophobes, the straight-jacketed…
…where even after being on the same page, how our syntax differed.
This was one of the most thought-provoking evenings, because I knew so little. I read a poem from Neesah magazine that I had co-edited, and one of my very first poems, ‘frog-postmoderne’ on the LGBT theme, that made me think deeper.
Of course, the joy of meeting friends is another thing.
